Silver Lough Gur Shield of Light Brooch

195.00

This is a faithful replica in solid silver of a shield dating back to 700B.C.!    Found in a bog near Lough Gur in County Limerick, it’s now on display at The National Museum, Ireland.      This is a very important shield, probably the property of Kings, priests or warriors, whose knowledge was often put into their weapons for added protection.    The ” Sun Shield ” is one such piece and much has been written about the significance of the number of bosses ( raised dots ) on each line and the seven rings thought to represent the seven vibrations of white light.       Size approx. 1 3/4 ” (45mm) diametre.
